Interview with Julia Brine

Julia Brine, landscape designer, artist and principal, along with Duncan Brine of GardenLarge, brings us the GardenLarge philosophy and the case for naturalistic gardens. Julia and Duncan’s design practice involves placing a whole property in the context of its region, connecting and structuring spaces, framing views and making choices based on the givens of a site. She espouses native plants and taking the cues for design from existing features and the plants of a garden’s location. The Brine Garden, created on a six acre site and began in 1990, is a well-know naturalistic garden in the Hudson Valley.
